Engineering leveling guide 1-450 for WOTLK

Engineering levelling guide 1-450
1 to 40 rough blasting powder 90 rough stone sell all
41 to 50 copper bolts 10 copper bar keep
51 arclite spanner 6 copper bar tool
52-65 copper tubes 35 copper bar keep
66-75 rough boom stick you have mats! disenchant
76-95 coarse blasting powder 80 coarse stone keep
96-105 silver contact 10 silver bar keep
106-120 deadly blunderbuss 30 medium leather + ~80 copper bars sell in AH I made these until I ran out of copper because they sell for 3-5g each and the recipe is orange a long time. Alternate is bronze tube.
121-125 small bronze bomb 10 bronze bar + 10 wool cloth sell
126-145 heavy blasting powder 70 heavy stone keep
146-150 big bronze bomb 15 bronze bar sell
151-175 fireworks 50 heavy leather whatever You may need more but the mats are reasonable.
176 gyrochromatic micro-adjustor 4 steel bar tool steel = coal + iron
177-190 solid blasting powder 90 solid stone keep
191-195 big iron bomb 20 iron bar sell
196-205 mithril tube 30 mithril bar keep
206-210 unstable trigger 10 mithril bar keep Make 10, you will need them
211-225 mithril slug 15 mithril bar sell in AH
226-235 mithril casing 60 mithril bar keep I think this is where I got bogged down and used all my mithril. I did not hit 235 with this, I made Gold Power Cores and Gyrochronatoms instead.
236-245 hi-explosive bomb you have mats! sell
246-250 mithril gyro-shot 16 mithril bar sell in AH I think I had to make extra coarse or solid blasting powder here somewhere for some reason.
251-260 dense blasting powder 50 dense stone keep
261-285 thorium widget 90 thorium bars whatever you don't need them on your way to 275 but may want them for other stuff
286-300 thorium shells 40 thorium bars sell in AH
301-320 handful of fel iron bolts 35 fel iron bars keep Make these until they turn grey, you will need trillions later anyway.
301-320 elemental blasting powder 20 mote of fire + 40 mote of earth keep This makes 4 powder for each! You need ~ 55
301-320 fel iron casing 100 fel iron bars keep I pushed this all the way to 320 because you need the casings for the bomb. I actually ended up with like 19 leftover, but whatever
321-335 fel iron bomb you have mats! kill things with Compared to the alternatives this is cheap to make even when it's green, so I pushed all the way to 335 with it.
336-350 white smoke flare 25 netherweave whatever Schematic is sold in Silvermoon and Lower City






PRE WOTLK


351-360+ cogspinner goggles 4 heavy knothide leather + 8 arcane dust + 2 blood garnet disenchant The schematic is sold in Hellfire Pensinsula. These go gray at 370 and disenchant into Large Prismatic Shards or even Void Crystals so if you want to try to push to 370, go ahead!
351-360+ khorium power core 10 khorium bar + 10 primal fire keep You need however many of these as you need repair bots to get to 375, if you'd rather push the goggles.
?-375 field repair bot 110G 80 adamantite bars + 80 fel iron bars use! This is orange to 370 and yellow to 375!






POST WOTLK



Please note you may still wish to make things from the higher BC recipes, such as repair bots, or the roflcopter, or your holo-gogs! You may as well do that while the recipe is still orange. There are also several items you may wish to make along the way, like the “tinkers“ for equipment, that you should research first.
350-370 handful of cobalt bolts 70 cobalt bars keep Make these until they turn grey, you will need some later anyway.
350-375 volatile blasting trigger 54 cobalt bars + 18 crystallized water keep Need a bunch, they go grey later than the bolts
375-380 hammer pick / bladed pickaxe 5 cobalt bars each whatever IF NEEDED: If you know anyone who wants one of these, you may as well get the points from them.
377-390 overcharged capacitor 40 cobalt bars + 10 crystallized earth keep Will need around 10 for cheapest skillups later.
387-390 explosive decoy 1 frostweave per each whatever Stays yellow to 390, so you may have more luck than making extra capacitors.
391-400 froststeel tube 120 cobalt bars + 15 crystallized water keep Will need 10-15 for cheapest skillups later.
400-405 diamond-cut refractor scope you have mats! sell in AH
405-410 saronite bomb 25 saronite bars whatever
410-415 bullet machine 30 saronite bars sell in AH These sell better on the AH than the other options and the mats aren't that much worse
415-420 saronite arrow maker 75 saronite bars sell in AH Same as above
420-425 snow goggles 40 saronite bars + 10 borean leather + 5 eternal shadow disenchant If you know you would use mana or health potion injectors, they stay yellow to 425
425-430 global thermal sapper charge 8 saronite bars whatever Yellow, but super-cheap to make – goblin only! Otherwise, more snow goggles
430-435 noise machine you have mats! sell in AH or DE Sonic Booster needs 2 more capacitors each, and is for melee
435-449 gnomish army knife 220-250 saronite + skinning knife, mining pick, and blacksmith hammer per each sell in AH or vendor No other choice, as much as this sucks - though if you're really getting desperate for the last few points and you have access to goggle mats cheaper, they are at least guaranteed skill points
449-450 YOUR EPIC GOGGLES, BITCH Differs per spec WEAR You earned these for sure.

51 copper bars (+ 80 if making deadly blunderbuss)
80 coarse stone
10 silver bars
55 bronze bars (- 40 if making deadly blunderbuss)
0 medium leather (+30 if making deadly blunderbuss)

50 heavy leather
4 steel bars (coal + iron)
90 solid stone
15 iron bars
190 mithril bars
120 thorium bars
35 motes of fire
70 motes of earth
50 dense stone
140 fel iron bars
285 cobalt bars
430 saronite bars
33 crystallized (3.3 eternal) water
1 eternal earth
5 eternal shadow
10 borean leather

I have left out both stuff you buy from engineering suppliers (you stand right there anyway) and cloth (you need less than two stacks of rune, mageweave, netherweave, and frostweave). Also skinning knives.
Do expect to have to go over the expected mats on a couple things, but your bad luck will be different than mine so I can't tell you where that will be.

I could swear I had to farm way WAY more than that. Then again, I suspect I was highly unlucky on the army knives. :(

I ran out of saronite one point away from 449 :P

and am too lazy to go farm more right now, also too lazy to log into bank alt, buy two ore, send to mining alt, smelt, send to Q, make army knife, not get the point, rinse, repeat. Since the goggles are the only thing I need right now and I can't use them for another level, I'll stay at 448 until I do some more mining ;)

There's still the matter of that last point but so far - only 16 army knives *hides from Addy rage*

*sigh* Addy rage is saved for things like people with epic flyers before I had one swooping down on the node I was desperately (slowly) flying for. Now it's saved for bastard gnomes on choppers swooping in before I get there. XD

Yeah, I'd.... suggest going with goggles for those last two points. I didn't use them at all because I already had better, but still - despite the cost of those two frozen orbs, they were WAY worth it just to be done! >_

Ahaha, I currently have like 3.5 stacks on my bank alt, and no frickin' idea what to do with the crap. It's worth than Primal Earth. People should request lots of Eternal Belt Buckles from me so I can use some.

With the AH prices the way they were on my server when I powerlevelled engineering from 375 to 450, I ended up making epic goggles from 445 to 450. And vendoring all but the one pair I'm going to use. And it was cheaper than it would've been to do it on army knives. (I tried, because it seemed just utterly wrong to get the points on goggles and then vendor them. Changed my mind once I spent the same amount of gold on saronite that I could've made one pair of goggles with, without getting a single measly skillpoint out of them. Ugh.)

I'm guessing it helped that the character I was doing it on is a hunter, so I got to use Twilight Opals and Eternal Waters, which are v. v. cheap compared to the materials needed for some of the other armorclasses and specs.

Also made a MOLL-E and a bunch of scopes from 425 to 435. Somewhat more expensive, but 1. portable mailboxes are awesome and 2. I actually managed to sell most of the scopes on the AH by now (and what I haven't sold I'll probably use myself).

Still haven't sold a single goddamned army knife. Think I might just start handing them out to friends and guildies as souvenirs of the Great Engineering Effort.

MOLL-E, though, I love. Love, love, love, love, love.

And the army knife? Good luck handing them out to friends and guildies - I tried this multiple times and I still have - oh, probably around a dozen. XD I think my guild is overpopulated with engineers. *eyes schmitt speculatively*

Mana and health potion injectors also AH for stupid low prices - I was considering using them due to the slightly lower mats cost, but the arrow box sells for around 45g (according to Wowhead and valid on Bronzebeard at least) compared to oh, 1-4g for the injectors, so in the interest of recouping small amounts of cash....

The stupid army knives go for less than 1g50 on our server. I understand supply and demand, but I wish more people understood not selling for less than the price of the mats for Chrissake! I think I will wrap them all up in pretty paper and hold a raffle at the next guild party *covers ears of all guildies*

Just by-the-by, eternal earths should be send to your JC alt/friend and turned into jewellery that can be de'd.
